1.
아 하나님의 은혜로 I know not why God’s wondrous grace
이 쓸데 없는 자 to me He hath made known,
왜 구속하여 주는지 nor why, unworthy, Christ in love
난 알 수 없도다 redeemed me for His own.
내가 믿고 또 의지함은 But “I know whom I have believed,
내 모든 형편 아시는 주님 and am persuaded that He is able
늘 보호 해주실것을 to keep that which I’ve committed
나는 확실히 아네 unto Him against that day.”

왜 내게 굳센 믿음과 I know not how this saving faith
또 복음 주셔서 to me He did impart,
내 맘이 항상 편한지 nor how believing in His word
난 알 수 없도다 wrought peace within my heart.
내가 믿고 또 의지함은 But “I know whom I have believed,
내 모든 형편 아시는 주님 and am persuaded that He is able
늘 보호 해주실 것을 to keep that which I’ve committed
나는 확실히 아네 unto Him against that day.”

왜 내게 성령 주셔서 I know not how the Spirit moves,
내 마음 감동해 convincing men of sin,
주 예수 믿게 하는지 revealing Jesus through the Word,
난 알 수 없도다 creating faith in Him.
내가 믿고 또 의지함은 But “I know whom I have believed,
내 모든 형편 아시는 주님 and am persuaded that He is able
늘 보호 해주실것을 to keep that which I’ve committed
나는 확실히 아네 unto Him against that day.”

주 언제 강림 하실지 I know not when my Lord may come,
혹 밤에 혹 낮에 at night or noon-day fair,
또 주님 만날 그 곳도 nor if I’ll walk the vale with Him,
난 알 수 없도다 or meet Him in the air.
